Scan for media won't work on some folders.
I'm very impressed with Songbird so far but the "file -> Scan for media" feature seems buggy. I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 with Songbird 1.1.1 build 1018
The media I'm trying to add are MP3s (ID3 v 2.3 - 192kbit/s 44.1KHz) and they are located on a NTFS drive attached locally to my system mounted using fuseblk (Ubuntu automatically mounts it using this)
When I try to add certain folders using it sometimes it adds nothing and sometimes it only adds a few off the tracks.
I've found that sometimes I can sometimes get Songbird to add the folder I want (that wouldn't add before) by doing the following:
Renaming the folder to a name with NO spaces (this seemed to be the most effective).
I found once that removing images within the folder I'm trying to add (e.g. Folder.jpg) allowed me to add its contents - This allowed me to add a folder that previously wouldn't add at all (Songbird just did nothing).

As an example (the music folder is a symbolic link to a folder on my NTFS drive):
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/01 The Wilderness (Prelude).mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/02 Longing Town.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/03 Mr. Chess.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/04 The Winds That Blow.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/05 Mouth On Fire.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/06 Sad Stephen's Song.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/07 Time And Good Fortune.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/08 Far Away.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/09 This Is How My Heart Heard.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/10 A Mirror In The Heart.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/11 Lo And Behold.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/12 Requiescat.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/13 The Wilderness.mp3
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/AlbumArtSmall.jpg
/home/dan/music/iTunes/Duncan Sheik/Phantom Moon/Folder.jpg
I can't add the folder "Phantom Moon" when I try to add it but, renaming it to "PhantomMoon" allows the folder to be added into songbird.
Confusingly other folders with spaces I try to add work fine. I've noticed that I'm only having problems with my "Ducan Sheik" folder which probably means it may have something to do with the way they are encoded but somehow renaming the folder fixes the issue!
Strange...

Inappropriate? No one else has had this problem then?

Inappropriate?I have the same problem, I have one path with several folders Music, and links folders directing to other disks, and Song Bird can't read all folders.
Then i delete ".songbird2" and restart the Songbird, then i have all music again. But one time after, i have to repeat, this procediments.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate? The new update (1.1.2) appears to fix the problem. However I initially found that songbird (updated) would freeze/crash when trying to play files with brackets in the file name. It would also freeze/crash if I tried to play any of the files (the Duncan sheik ones I listed in my other post) I just imported.
After exiting songbird, removing my profile (sudo rm -r ~/.songbird2) and then starting songbird again the import of the files worked perfectly.
