Inappropriate?updated, now songbird never displays. two copies of songbird-bin running and one songbird, all sleeping. deleted old installation and extracted new installation, backed up old profile folder for it to create a new one... still nothing. wonderful
I’m seriously?
-
Same here unfortunately...
Ubuntu 9.04 64bit.
Only started using Songbird 2 days ago and was loving it.
Ah well, I'm sure it'll be fixed soon... -
Inappropriate?Getting an error and not sure how to diagnose or fix.
On Ubuntu Jaunty 64bit.
Looks like same issue as uschxc.
I’m frustrated and sad and confused
-
Inappropriate?sudo apt-get remove libvisual-0.4-plugins worked for me.
Now running 1.2 :)
I’m excited
-
yea... removing a package to make songbird work is outrageous -
some users could reinstall the package and it still worked... You can read more about it here: http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/t...
p.s. that package is really old, and what it does is control visualizations in rhythmbox, totem, etc... and i personally dont use them/they arent the prettiest things to look at :-P -
Inappropriate?Saw ref to songbird and based on the fact it was extensible w/addons I thought I'd try it out. So, I'm a completely new user -- never used songbird before.
First thing I tried was to copy my bookmarks from winamp. I right-clicked the "radio" heading in the left-hand panel and... nothing. Searched thru menus and found no way to add a new entry. I finally managed to add them as "playlists". Two of the three were live365 stations. Songbird does play them although not by double-clicking the playlist (rather inconvenient I'd say) I had to click it and then click the play button on the bottom. OK, I guess I could live with that.
The third playlist is:
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,http://wttw.ic.llnwd.net/stream/wttw wfmt livebroadcast
http://wttw.ic.llnwd.net/stream/wttw_...
WFMT radio, Chicago. www.wfmt.com. According to their web site, this is an AAC+ stream (not that I know what that is). Winamp plays it fine. Songbird gives an error:
Internal data flow error.
Since this is the station I listen to most often, this is a show stopper. I hope there is a fix for this since I'd like to explore more of songbirds features. If not, I guess I'll check back in a year or so and maybe try again. It's clear that a lot of work goes into songbird, and I wish you well in the future.
PS. I'm using Vista home premium with everything up to date as far as I know.
I've got all the standard plugins/players installed and have not had any problems playing any media I've run across. I've used winamp, windows media player, nero, quicktime. -
Inappropriate? The fonts are way too small and ignore my operating system's defaults. I bumped up the size to 20 in the songbird settings, but everything apart from information in the music library remains the same size.
I am using ubuntu 9.04 and I have my display settings at 155dpi with 1680x1050 resolution on a 24" display.
Deal breaker for me.
I’m frustrated
-
I've got the same issue. Using mandriva 2009.1 -
Inappropriate?album art now doesn't display. i still have my artwork folder and my albumart settings are set to look local, lastfm, and metadata.
do you guys like test this stuff? ever? -
Inappropriate?Hi all,
Sorry for your troubles. More on your issues are here: http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/t...
and here: http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/t... -
Inappropriate?Hey I just tried Songbird for the first time and really liked it.
Even though it's not perfect yet, I really like that the plugins are quite easy to create and that the interface can be altered just the way I like it.
Already looking forward to the next update.
I’m happy
-
Good to hear, thanks for letting us know! -
Inappropriate?I have no problems at all with 1.2 compared with the previous version.
But I was hoping for a much quicker library search in the new version but it is still really slow... I have a large music collection but searching in it with songbird "Search Library" takes ages and makes the program hang.
Hoped that it will be fixed in the new release (1.2) but it still isn't.
I know that the dev team have a lot more projects going on but the main reason why I want to use songbird is the watchfolder, and not able to search the library is so frustrating.
I’m disappointed
-
There is still work ongoing to improve search. Check out this bug and watch there for more info: http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show... -
Inappropriate?Beware this update if you're a current songbird user as it may destroy your current profile. See this discussion for more info and suggestions:

(@atreiu makes a good point about the need for MUCH better profile stability)
I’m not amused
-
Inappropriate?G'day,
It actually works fine here so must be something on your side. Maybe try clearing your browser cache or use IE...
The exact link is: http://download.songbirdnest.com/inst...
Regards,
Andrew -
USE IE?? How could you say that!! -
a) Most users have both IE and firefox on their computer
b) Sometimes browsers cache a broken version of the page or other things, that cause a site/download to break. Using a browser that is completely seperate helps ensure its a problem with the connection, not a temporary issue with the browser. Quickly using another browser would be better then wiping your firefox cache and history (possibly for no reason).
So quite easily in this case. I'm not saying IE is a better browser, and nor was I sparking a browser war. I was just offering what I thought was the best solution for Emanuele... Whether or not IE is better for someone, its not my job to say (I'm not employed by POTI, Microsoft or Mozilla). But what matters is that the user has the best experience possible. -
Inappropriate? It does not work from Italy.
I've tried with different connections, but it does not work.
Is there some mirror ?
I’m frustrated
-
-
Yay!! -
Inappropriate?I've installed 1.2.0 version and it keeps crashing, It won't even let my play a song, is there any way I could possible get an older version?
I’m frustrated
-
We do not offer older versions for download. Sad to say but it sounds like you need to scrub your profile. :0( Sorry. -
Don't know if you guys (employees) know about this, but...
http://www.filehippo.com/download_son... -
Most probably did, but I didn't so thanks for pointing it out! Bookmaked! :0) -
Indeed, FileHippo is a gem of a site. Has older versions of nearly any app you need. Couldn't live without it. -
Inappropriate?RE: Linux font issues: Do either of these bugs seem to encompass your issue: http://tinyurl.com/mq778x ? If so let me know and I'll add your reports there.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Dear Songbird:
wish you would start up and stay started up after new update. i miss you and wish you didn't crash in the middle of loading due to a segmentation fault.
Yours,
Joe

Inappropriate?I think there's a partial bug in the SongBird application: Incompatibility with some devices:
- In my ipod 5,5th generation, (iPod video), Songbird list only one song for each album. (The device work perfectly, also in iTunes, Floola, etc).
- I tried version 1.2 and 1.1 with no diferences in behavior.
- The problem doesn't occur in a 6th generation iPod (iPod classic).
