Test the authenticity of your files
I've started ripping and downloading my music in flac, and I'm learning more about the format. I've noticed that people usually want a log file to accompany flac downloads so they can make sure the rip was accurate, since errors can be made in rips from scratched cds, or sometimes flac files are just transcoded from mp3s, which defeats the purpose of getting lossless files. I have found a few programs that can help you determine how accurate music files are, I thought a good idea would be to make an addon that can check the files in your library. Maybe the addon could add a new info column that shows a percent of how accurate it determines the files to be.
There are a few programs I've found that do something like this now. There is a program called Audio Checker that checks if files are transcodes using a tool from True Audio This is a picture that shows how Audio Checker gives you percentages of how accurate your music is: http://www.dester.hu/Images_Ready/scr...
Then there is a tool called Accurate Rip, which the popular ripping program EAC uses to verify your files based on data from rips that other people have made.
I don't know too much about how they work, so I don't know how possible it would be to incorporate either of these tools into an addon somehow, but I think they might be useful as people download more music and are unsure about how close the files are to the actual recordings.

Inappropriate?I think this is a great idea. I try to get music in flac whenever I can, and I always hope that they aren't transcodes or bad rips or something.
