Inappropriate?Hey Maureen,
Looks like you have a bad add-on/feather installed. Could you try Safe Mode to disable to problematic extension.

Michael, how do I go to safe mode? Are you talking about Windows safe mode? I have to reinstall Songbird, so will leave off any skins or plug-ins and see if that makes a difference. I'll let you know. Thanks so much for your help.

The vanilla reinstall did not work. Still have a garbage menu.
Thanks.

Inappropriate?I had that too! I suggest making a new profile. That fixed it, it really beats trying to root out exactly what the cause is. Though you may want to try deleting the last couple add-ons you installed.

What do you mean about a new profile? I have to reinstall Songbird, so will leave off any skins or plug-ins and see if that makes a difference. I'll let you know. Thanks for your help.

Inappropriate? Please let me know: did you have the YABS-Feather or Q4-Feather active?
Because Saebekassebil had this problem with the last update of Q4, too, and I have a terrible apprehension... :>
(I fear it might have something todo with my switch to jar-packaging) -
Are these things skins? I have to reinstall Songbird, so will leave off any skins or plug-ins and see if that makes a difference. I'll let you know. Thanks so much for your help. -

Inappropriate?Maureen,
Safe mode instruction are here:
http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Getting_...
It's in the windows Start Menu as "Songbird (Safe-Mode)"
If Safe-mode made the display usable again, its probably a feather or add-on. So you need to go to your add-ons (Tools > Addons) and disable the one(s) you think it could be..
Reinstalling wont do anything unless you delete your profile:

Thanks, Michael. I'll give it a try and let you know.

Neither change helped. First I ran in safe mode and there was no change. Then I started in Safe Mode again, undid all the add-ons, etc. and had it restart and that was no help, either. I'll attach the image of what the menu looks like after getting rid of all the add-ons in a reply message.
Thanks.

Inappropriate?Have you tried a new songbird-profile, too? I would say, that would be your best shot.

I printed out the 2 topics, "Uninstalling Songbird & Cleaning Up Profiles" and "Profile Manager". I had to install Songbird again before I could do the steps in "Profile Manager" and again I got a bad menu. So I went back to the article "Uninstalling Songbird & Cleaning Up Profiles" but I only got as far as uninstalling through Control Panel". I do not feel comfortable taking the other steps in the article without some help. I don't understand what the article means by the %appdata% variable or how to get what should be in there to replace it. What other kind of help can I get for this issue? -
Inappropriate?Try this:
Close Songbird.
Click on the Windows Start button,
Select All Programs,
Select the "Songbird" folder,
In there you should see: "Songbird (Profile Manager)",
click it to open it.
From there you can delete your profile.

Thanks, Michael, for the help. I found what you were talking about and I deleted the profile that was there, then added a new one (also called Default), but there were no changes to my menu. I have attached a screen shot of my menu, and as you can see, it seems to be missing data and commands. At least, it isn't something that I can pickup easily. I hope you can come up with something else to help me.
Thanks again.
Maureen
