Agreed - the Logitech Squeezebox and Spotify would make a nice combination. Bringing Spotify to devices beyond the desktop is on our todo list, but it will be some time before we get there - no launch date for this yet, or exact information on what devices we will support.
Keep an eye on our blog (https://www.spotify.com/blog), when the time is right we will announce support for additional platforms there. Meanwhile, go grab an invite and enjoy the service on your Windows or Mac!

Inappropriate?I have a premium membership and have been streaming Spotify via DS Bridge to the squeezebox, but I find it intensely irritating that I have to control the music via my pc. I also have a NAS device that allows me to access a library without having the pc switched on. As much as I like Spotify I will not renew my subscription and have decided to use Napster instead since this is a supported app and also happens to have a much larger database (although the bitrate is lower, and quality not quite as good but only noticeable if you are really listening in a quiet environment). I feel Spotify is going to lose business, and fast, if they don't sort this out very soon. More and more people are using streaming devices for their music, and at the very least an update as to some sort of timescale would help relieve some of the frustration that clearly so many people are feeling with this lack of support.

Inappropriate?Guy. I agree I was all set to jump ship to Spotify Premium as soon as it was integrated. However, Napster is just too easy to use. Given that I don't really find Napster limiting in quality, it only costs £5 p/m, and I get 5 free downloads p/m, Spotify will have to make a real effort to convince me even when it is integrated. You never know, by then Napster might be streaming at 256, in which case Spotify won't get a look in.

Inappropriate? Is it possible to let Squeezecenter read offline Spotify files? If so it would be very close to Squeezebox integration. At least enough to make me go Premium.

Inappropriate?Hi Mikael, the answer to this is no, that's not possible either unfortunately, but that kind of defeats the object anyway doesn't it? You would still need to have your PC on to play the music...

Inappropriate?Hey I have just installed the dsbrisgde and everything worked fine and after a restart of spotify the dsbridge doesn't work anymore. There is no symbal at my tray bar?
Can anybody help me with that?
Thanks
sorry guys... I just had to press play :D
but now I have another problem... I can not connect via wifi. It takes ages until the squeeze box stops trying to connect. I tried to change the bitrate in the dsbridge file already?? Is there anything else I can do? -
Hi Vaslouz, that error is typical of port blocking in the router firewall. Read your router documentation to see how to open the correct ports and use the Squeezebox help to obtain the correct port numbers and IP settings -

Read your router documentation to see how to open the correct ports and use the Squeezebox help to obtain the correct port numbers and IP settings. Another possibility and perhaps easier to check first is the IP address you are using to connect to Spotify. Make sure your computer IP address is the same as the one you have typed into the connection settings, especially if your network assigns addresses with DHCP. If not then change the IP address for Spotify to that of your PC -
Inappropriate?Thanks for your reply
but unfortunately it still does not work. I have tried it already with two different laptops, but always the same probelm. Everytime I want to start the connection spotify stops playing and the Squeeze box is trying to connect for ages.
Ports are open: UDP TCP 3483 and TCP 9000
Spotify: http://192.168.1.17:8124/ laptop 192.168.1.17
It works pretty fine on my desktop pc with lan cable.
The problem ist the wifi connection with spotify. Even ordinary music streaming is possible with wifi just spotify won't work -
If it works with LAN but not WiFi then it most likely is a problem with the firewall. Did you check tour Windows Forewall settings? Port 8124 should be open. And - what do you mean with "Spotify stops playing"? -
Hi Joakim,
windows firewall is off and I also open Router Port 8124 but still no music :( .
Can I lower the streaming bitrate?
Spotify stops playing = first I can hear the music via my laptop speaker when I start connecting it stops -
Now it works.
I deleted everything concerning cover in the dsbridge file and set the bitrate on and 128 kbits.
It is quite slow...it works with 5 to 7 sec. time lag. -
Inappropriate? We have Spotify streaming to a Squeezebox, and it sounds fantastic. The software isn't ready for use yet, but it will be! And it will be Open Source.
Watch our blog for more information.
I’m excited

Dear Squeal,
Can you please give us some more info - is the SW a DSBridge type of SW or can you actually control and search Spotify music from the Squeezebox?

Squel - That sounds really cool. If you want us to "officially" test it out we'd be happy to give it a go. :) -
It uses libspotify to connect to spotify, and provides a python implementation of the squeezebox server software.
It replaces the existing squeezebox server software, mostly because I couldn't bring myself to write Perl ;) -
So what you are saying is that you have to connect your squeezebox client to your Squealserver instead of Squeezebox Server? It is really cool that you put an effort into this and I look forward to trying it out. You will be a hero if it rocks! :) My only question is why you didn't build a plug-in instead? -

Sounds wonderful... I'm just wondering if I can install your host on a NAS or not ;) -
Inappropriate? As far as I'm concerned it can do whatever it wants, as long as I am able to search and play music from Spotify on my Squeezebox. :)
Question is, can you actually control what you want to play from Spotify using the SB remote, or is it just another streaming solution? -
You will be able to control it with the remote, and over the web. -

Inappropriate? For those experiencing issues with dsbridge 'localhost:8124' try replacing localhost with the ip of the machine running spotify, i.e. 192.168.x.xxx:8124
Not sure why but it worked for me -
Works for me with the lokal computers IP. Looks like it is a problem if you have a computer network. -
