Linking Spotify and iTunes
In an ideal world, Spotify would link into my iTunes library, filling in the holes where I didn't already own a track. For example, you have 2 out of 6 albums Boards of Canada have done. You'd like to hear the other 4 albums. Spotify then lets you add them into iTunes, as streaming tracks. Perfecto!

Inappropriate? It's a bit iffy, but the way Spotify streams music now could be linked into iTunes without ever actually putting the data on disk.
There's a lot of details to be figured out, but using a MacFUSE extension, Spotify could fake local files for each track (size 0) which when accessed would stream in transparently from Spotify.
iTunes probably would choke on having the entire Spotify library on disk, so some management feature would be necessary, but other than that, this is the stuff FUSE was made for and it seems like an awesome fit.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?I was thinking that to myself earlier. It would be nice (or possibly simpler) if you could import your iTunes library into Spotify, and then shuffle through a mix of your own and online music. :)
I’m hoping this'll happen!

Inappropriate?I've got an idea that could work without all the MacFUSE stuff.
Make Spotify run in the background as a "helper"
Add iTunes streaming items with a stream like:
http://localhost:9999/streamspotify/s...
And that'll stream with adverts in it, to iTunes
I’m silly

Great idea to have Spotify create a local shoutcast station with your current play queue in it. Could very well work. -
Inappropriate?I doubt if apple would let them extend iTunes with spotify - it would make people to buy fewer songs in their own store...
-
Inappropriate?Im sorry to tell you again but as you know ATM spotify + itunes as not going to work
spotify streams music and its not a "Music downloader"
as itunes "you can play your OWN music"
itunes and spotify will never team up
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? The thing that would make sense to me would be that Spotify simply reads iTunes library XML file, and then you can listen to the same songs in Spotify, complete albums etc. I don't think iTunes and Spotify can or should be technically somehow linked, but just being able to use Spotify to discover more tracks etc about the people you have in your iTunes, would be a great start.

Inappropriate?Spotify IN iTunes is not possible. (Or only for Prenium user) because of the ads. And as it said, it would say that people use Itunes to buy music, not spotify's link with % of the price for Spotify.
iTunes in Spotify could be a good 2nd solution.
Allow users to add there MP3/ACC to spotify and then use it as a music player.
I’m confused

Inappropriate? There is a slight disconnect with Spotify. Once I love, love, love an album, I can't easily buy it, same for my precious playlists. The iPhone app will definitely fill most of this gap, there's still a 'safe' sense of ownership that is missing from your ultimate, top, favourites music list.
I’m stating the obvious

Why not just record the stuff you can't actually buy as it streams. You can always delete it when you've got the official download. Try http://www.savespotify.com -
I'm done with any kind of ownership of media. Ease of use is key, I don't have time for the rest. -
Inappropriate? If it would be possible to fill out the gaps with my own mp3s if would almost be a perfect service! I miss a lot of songs....
