shuffle
Why is the shuffle so badly implemented - I have songs on the playlist that have been played 3 or 4 times and some that have never been played in a month of listening.
I also notice clusters of songs played in the order they are added so you search and add 5 songs by and artist and these get played within a few minutes of each other. Not really what you want in a lot of cases.
A well implemented shuffle algorithm would play every song on the playlist once in a totally random order and when it got to the end would re randomise the list and then play the list again.
If you add things to the shuffled playlist then it should save these into a new list which it can hold and then randomise as more gets added to it or each time something gets added, this can then be played by appending to the original shuffled list when it has got to the end of the original list.
When you have got to the end of the whole list the entire set are re-shuffled.

Inappropriate?Yes it is bad shuffle and I also noticed that you can not backtrack (press back to play previous song)

Also very disappointed with the shuffle - have heard the same songs night after night, having loaded almost 300 into a favourites list. This must be EASY to solve for the technicians. Spotify is such a great idea, but such a disappointing result on the random play! -
Inappropriate?I couldn't agree more with this - I was going to post the same thing myself until I saw Dr Kanukie got there first. We have spotify in the office with a shared playlist of about 48 hrs worth of music. Some stuff I added weeks ago but have never heard, other tracks get played at least once a day. It's absolutely infuriating, and such a simple thing to fix.
As Kanukie said: "A well implemented shuffle algorithm would play every song on the playlist once in a totally random order and when it got to the end would re randomise the list and then play the list again. "
please please please fix it! -
Inappropriate?I agree with the above complaints regarding the shuffle. We also have an office playlist with days worth of music on it, and yet it still seems to repeat certain tracks with unusual frequency, whilst others remain unplayed. I can't suggest anything without repeating the above.
Just sort it out, please.
I’m growing bored of repetition

Inappropriate?I know! How can anyone implement a shuffle function on a massive globally accessible music platform, without stopping to think how shuffle actually works. They should spend less time on filling their advertising spaces with shoddy adverts about themselves (never a good sign either!) and more attention to making the thing function properly.
I’m thinking spotify should just stopify and thinkify!

Inappropriate?why has there been no reply from a spotify employee about this yet either? I also emailed spotify support directly but have had no reply.
I’m angry that spotify are ignoring this
-
Inappropriate? It's because they are too busy recording themselves saying "Hi, I'm (insert ridiculous name here) from Spotify! At Spotify, we believe in implementing defective shuffle functions and putting shitty, pointless and downright embarrassing adverts first...thus further alienating our core audience, who are gradually realising that the whole enterprise is not as great as it first seemed."
I’m Xander from Spotify...and I'm a pretentious tosspiece!

Inappropriate?i have this issue and it is vert annoying. surely it isn't hard to generate a random number list? i am getting songs played more than once and often i can predict the order of the shuffle. it is worse on my android phone that on the desktop app but happens on both.
sort it please :)
I’m disapointed
