What does Spotify use all these peer connections for?
I have just today installed Spotify. At first I thought I had installed some malware, IM client or a torrent client. Apart from a dns lookup and two Spotify servers, Spotify also tries to connect to everyone on the entire internet (or so it feels).
In less than a minute I have attempted requests to a myriad of IPs on a myriad of ports in the rage from 14000 - 65000 range. I can't find any explanation of these on the website. They apear to be anything from company networks, personal broadband, mobile (cell phone) networks...
Please, come clean regarding this. What are you sending? What are you receiving?

Hi eimermusic,
Spotify uses a peer-to-peer network to relieve the pressure on our
streaming servers. We use a hybrid model where central servers and
peers work in unison to provide you the best experience in an economically viable fashion. This is why you see multiple connections to other Spotify users.

Inappropriate? It means you are not using only one port right ? SO tryon to spot (!) the right port to open it and avoid proxy is a no go ?
IF proxy are so important why don't you provide proxies yourself ? It's hard for non tech ppl to find proxies and they don't last for ever.
-
Inappropriate?Sounds like a good plan to relieve central servers like that. But please PLEASE explain why a SHITLOAD of anti-p2p companies are trying to connect to my IP when I use Spotify.
-
Do you have an example of the companies trying to connect? -
Thanks, I'll ask our developers why that might be happening. -
Are there any news about this issue? -
Inappropriate?Nope, havent heard a single thing since I posted over 3 months ago...
