Error "Start time and end time can not be the same"
I just installed StudentDocket with no issues, but when I added my first class and filled out the information, I received this error. "Start time and end time can not be the same"
One thing that I noticed is that when filling out the class details, there was no field to put in the end time of the class (Only the Date Time field of when the class begins).
Is this field perhaps being hidden for some reason and therefore not being filled out - causing it to think that the start time I inputted is also the end time?
This program looks great and I'd love to use it, but if I can't add classes there isn't much point :(... It could be my OS - it's an advanced one.

I have the same exact problem, there is NO end time anywhere, only start time for the classes!
then whenever I try and save it it says Start and end time cannot be the same, but I never put in an end time!
no making this easy at all.
OH and I'm running 4.5.0.52
which is an OFFICIAL release BTW -

What is the highest OS that you're compatible with? -
Inappropriate?We officially support through OS 4.3, but have several people confirming that the application works as suspected on OS 4.5. We are, however, currently still developing for 4.5+ to ensure there are no issues.

Inappropriate?The particular error that you're receiving is generally encountered while trying to set a repeat rule for a class without setting an end date. We have been unable to duplicate your error message without this being the case. Are you currently using the repeat rule for a class? If so, does it show an option for an end date? I apologize for asking so many questions, but without knowing any specifics about your situation, we are having some trouble duplicating the issue.

Inappropriate?What I did was create a new class and simply move down the screen one option at a time, filling out the details. There was no field for class end time, so I moved on to the repeat schedule and filled it out. At the end when I tried to save the class, I received the error message.
So yes, I was using a repeat rule, but no, there was no field for class end time at any point.
Tomorrow I'll load OS 4.5 or 4.3 onto my device and try reinstalling the software. I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks for your dedication to solving this issue. -

And that is it. Does that look right?

Inappropriate?that's how the inititial screen is supposed to look, yes. If you fill out all of the details but do nothing with the repeat rule, it should save just fine. If you do use the repeat rule, then it should slide down further options including setting an end date. This end date must be later than the Date Time field. Is this the case?
This was a bit of a limitation we encountered with the BlackBerry API that we could not find any way around. We're definitely open to any ideas on how to make this page more intuitive and user-friendly. -
Inappropriate?I had the same problem the first time i tried to enter a class. The problem was the start and end time for the teachers office hours. I just changed it for a one minute difference and everything worked fine. -

I'll do some further testing tomorrow and see if I can come up with anything. -
Inappropriate?I'm going to try and look into a way to stream-line the time entering process a little bit. We're a little limited by the Blackberry API, but hopefully we'll be able to alleviate some of these problems/headaches in the future. I appreciate all the help on this one!

Inappropriate?I downloaded a trial version to try before I invested in Docket and now that I have classes to start I am having the same problem only I do have an initial date and an end date. The two are set correctly but I an still getting the "same Date" error. I'll post if I can get it fixed.

Any chance I can get which OS you're currently using? If you aren't sure, you can find out by going to options->about on your Blackberry device. I've been working on this one for a few days now and just can't seem to duplicate the problem. thanks for your time, and sorry for the hassle!

Inappropriate?It's actually to do with the office hours setting. If you set that the teacher is available at the same time as the class time then you'll get this error. I usually set the available time a couple of minutes before or something like that and the error doesn't reproduce! Hope this helps...

Inappropriate?I'm still receiving the same error. I don't touch the teacher details, dont touch the repeat rule, just put in the time of the class (there is no area to put in the end time of the class) and it says start and end time cannot be the same...

Inappropriate?Back to the drawing board, though we'll be looking into fixing the teacher problem as well. There shouldn't be any conflicts or "work-arounds" in my mind.
I'd like to thank you all again for your continued patience and all your help while we work this one out. It's pretty difficult to pinpoint seeing as we can't duplicated it. Luke, any chance I can get an e-mail with the EXACT OS number you're working on? It would really help us out a lot. -

I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you guys on this one. We had a few issues jump up on us that took a little more time to fix than we had originally thought. The release isn't QUITE ready for prime-time just yet, but we're going to go ahead and point you guys in the direction of our beta copy. It's stable, and shouldn't give you any problems.
