Inappropriate?Sure, the problem is you uploaded the firmware for the EM1000W into the DS203.
You need to get the firmware for the DS203 (from http://www.tibbo.com/get_firmware.php) and do a serial upload.
To do a serial upload, follow this procedure: http://docs.tibbo.com/soism/index.htm...
Note that it must be _serial_ -- not through the network.

Inappropriate?I'm uploading this firmware EM_370D.BIN and i connected it to the serial. i followed the DS Manager's instruction to hold the setup button and power it while holding the setup button. but the upgrade wont go through the device just keep blinking in red.

I am wondering, when you restart the DS203 with the setup button pressed, does it go into the upload process? If the upload process is finished and you see the red light blinking, it means that it is in "Error mode" and you will need to initialize the unit. Please refer to the following links for more info:

Inappropriate?yes, I'm pressing the set up button. the set up button is located beside the ethernet port of the device.
I'm using DB9 female to DB9 female serial cable. i connect it to the serial port of the device to the PC.
when i start the device manager. i go to the serial access tab select the COM1 port and then click initialize.
when i click initialize, the device will prompt me a warning message that says "All settings will be restored to their default factory values. Do you wish to continue?" then i will click ok
after i click "ok" the the device will instruct me to press the setup button.
then it is stuck in this procedure.
note: the cable is good I am using it to other ds203 device and its working fine. -
Inappropriate?I am confused, I thought that you first loaded the wrong firmware "tios-em1000w-2_16_30.bin" into the DS203. So, you lost connectivity with DS Manager on the Ethernet side.
So, we have been trying to get the firmware upload to work through the serial side and thus the instructions from my last reply to you. Did the steps that I mentioned help and is the device loaded with the correct firmware now?
You can only "initialize" when you have the correct fixed function firmware (EM_370.bin) loaded into the device first.
