Linkserver, Aggregate, and VB.Net?
This might be a long shot, but I'm a software programmer for a small company and we are trying to get our TR610 GIGa -TMS readers to work with a program that we created. I downloaded both the Linkserver and the Aggregate software, and was glad to see that our readers work seamlessly with Aggregate. We also switched the database to Microsoft SQL Server, however it did not create the tables or columns that we needed. Aggregate does a fantastic job of recording our time information(clocking in and out)but we need to somehow get that data and incorporate it into our VB program we created. Is there a way to connect to the Linkserver with a .NET application? Or can I somehow edit the way Aggregate is updating the sql server? Included is a picture of the data I need out of the Clock IN Clock OUT filter.
Sorry for the wall of text, but we really like the Aggregate software and really hope we can get this work :)

Inappropriate?Hello Chad!
Yes. You can obtain all the variety of AggreGates data from your .Net or VB application. Here are usefull links about this ability:

Inappropriate?Thank you for your response anton. I think I have been taking this in the wrong direction. Instead of going through Aggregate and Linkserver, all I really want is the clock in and clock out data thats stored inside the reader. Is that data stored in the E1000 chip? How can i get that out using vb?

Inappropriate?Sorry. I'm not the best man in such questions. I'm not so closed with Em1000 aspects. But it seems I saw the same question here. You can look through topics of this forum. Or you can create a new question. You can find the right man here who knows the answer...

Inappropriate?Hey Chad,
I'm not a Tibbo BASIC guru myself, but I know enough to tell you that you can create a simple protocol (even comma-separated values, for example), have your VB app open a direct TCP socket to the clock, and poll the data directly.
For exact details and code snippets etc, I would recommend writing Support. Andrew is the man for such questions -- he knows his Tibbo BASIC very well.
And if you come up with anything interesting, I would love to hear it on the forum or feature it on our site.

Inappropriate? On a side note, is there anyway to edit the way aggregate writes to the database. In the picture I posted, aggregate shows the Card ID, Clocked in or Out etc. but does not write this to the database. Is there a way I can change that?
-
Inappropriate?Yes. You can try this. Open LinkServer configuration in client. And find "Custom Event writers" tab. Then add new entry there. Enter the name for writer, select attendance context from Entity selector and select event name. Then confirm your changes and wait while LinkServer reloading. Then discovery your database. You'll get a new table with name you've specified.
Sorry. My aswer is not complete. May be you'll get more professional answer. But you can try what I suggest. May be it will be enough for you..
I’m in dream

Inappropriate?Okay I tried what you suggested, however I could not get the table to appear in my database. I went into the custom event writers tab and put the information in there. I then ran linkserver.exe -c in the command prompt to create the tables to the database. Is that what I was supposed to do? Sorry about all the questions.
I’m almost there

Inappropriate?Hi Chad,
did you restart the server after adding Custom Event Writer? If the table was not created in your MS SQL database, please check your linkserver.log for errors or send it to aggregate(-a-t-)tibbo.com so that we can analyze it. -
Inappropriate?Okay I sent an email with the log file attached. My email is cwelch@elliottdata.com

Inappropriate?Thank you for fixing the problem. Everything works perfectly now. Thank you so much!
