Remote Software Upload for EM1000/1202
My problem is the following:
I want to design stand-alone terminals, using an EM1000 (or EM1202) module.
The terminals will be installed in remote locations, connecting to a central server using GPRS. For that purpose, each terminal has a GPRS module connected to one of the serial ports.
I've been told that, when a GPRS connection is established, the terminal appears in the server's network, as if it were directly connected through Ethernet. Devices can then exchange data packets (either TCP or UDP) over IP.
In those conditions, can I connect another PC to the local network and upgrade the terminal's software remotely?
If not, I'll have to choose another platform, remote software upload is mandatory!!!

Inappropriate? You can have several kind of GPRS modules. The most common is the normal modem for ptp connection. Most of them have also embedded PPP functionality to connect to internet but you have to handle the tcpip stack in software. But you can find also GPRS (ethernet) bridges and deviceservers: these modules defacto make a remote ethernet/rs232 port local. The ethernet ones are transparent. For the GPRS device servers you have a virtual serial port driver. They do the same the DS1000 do but through GPRS

Inappropriate?Thanks, dMajo.
Could you indicate one of the mentioned GPRS model reference, so I can explore its capabilities? I want a simple device connected to one of the EM1000 serial ports - and to the server, via GPRS.
Thanks :)
