How to build a Custom Messenger Bag with handle and no laptop compartment?
I would like to build a custom messenger bag with a handle (like your laptop bag) but without a laptop compartment (bkz I have a have a suspension sleeve I would like to use).
There does not seem to be a way to build either a regular messenger bag with a handle or a laptop bag without the laptop compartment...what can I do?
Also, just to confirm...are the laptop messenger bag and regular messenger bag identical minus the sewn-in (non-removable) laptop compartment? And... as mentioned, I'd like to use a suspension laptop sleeve, is it possible to have the optional divider sewn in towards the back of the back using only aprox.3 inches to slide this sleeve into (and freeing up the remaining space for books)?
Thank you very much!

Inappropriate? You *can* build a regular messenger bag (no laptop compartment) with a grab strap. Here's how:
1) Go to the bag builder (http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/b...)
2) Build your desired regular messenger bag
3) In the options section where it asks you to specify your liner and logo color, check the box for grab strap ($10).
You should be on your way :)
I’m confident you'll love your grab-strapped messenger

Inappropriate?Thank you very much for your help!
But was curious in regard to other 2 questions...
-are the laptop messenger and regular messenger identical in other respects minus the laptop compartment and handle?
-is it possible to sew the compartment divider in the manner discussed above (towards the back of the bag instead of in the middle) so that I could use it to slide my current laptop sleeve into?
Thank you very much again for your help!!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?yep a laptop messenger is just a regular messenger with a grab strap and a laptop insert.
and nope we cant sew the center divider anywhere else besides where it currently goes.. but i will say it does go towards the back of the bag.. i wish i had a photo to show you.

Inappropriate?Excellent, thank you very much for your reply!
Great, so they are identical bags minus the laptop insert.
As far as the center divider...
I will be using the bag for a lot of large reference text books and binders so space for them is key. If I could please ask you...if the bag depth of a large messenger bag is 8.5 inches, could you please guesstimate how much space is created between the divider and the back of the bag (I ask bkz I find this a convenient space to slide my laptop sleeve in my current messenger bag...it sperarates the laptop from all of the books and stuff).
Thank you very much for your help!!
I’m thankful
