Key ring strap stuck in zipper way to often

Anyone else having a problem with the key ring lanyard thing in the small zipper pocket on the outside of their bag getting stuck in the zipper? Its incredibly tough to get it out and I'm pretty sure its going to rip apart eventually. I've used the bag for less than a week and had it get stuck twice. I tried many things to dislodge it but the best way is just pull really hard. It seems to me it should be a barrel cord rather than a piece of ribbon that is so attracted to zipper teeth. The design of the pocked doesn't fit the design for the ribbon. Love the bag otherwise. Its a large custom messenger.
