The fix is actually pretty simple; I was dealing with the same thing on XP and this technique (modified a bit) fixed it right up:

Hope this helps.

Inappropriate?Same here. I'm using Chrome and TweetDeck opens links in IE. Interestingly, twhirl (also on AIR) opens links in Firefox, not Chrome. Could this be an AIR thing?
I’m perplexed
-
Inappropriate?I'm experiencing this issue as well. Dreamweaver seems to be opening up rather than my def. browser - FF 2
-
Inappropriate?I had a tweet from TweetDeck the other day. Apparently it's an issue with Adobe AIR, rather than TweetDeck. Figures, 'cause I had a similar experience using Twhirl.
I’m indifferent

Can you please share what you did for XP based on the linked article? Was it reinstalling FF? Or changing file associations? Cheers! -
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, then click the "Set Program Access and Defaults" button on the left-hand side of the window that appears.
Select the Custom radio button and click the downward arrows in the right column -- from there, just change your default web browser, and you should be all set. -
The problem is not how to set the default browser in windows!!!!!! The problem is that the setting is being ignored by TweetDeck! -
Inappropriate?inkwell, that doesn't work for me. Links from TweetDeck are already opening in FF. I want them to open in Chrome.
-
Inappropriate? So do the steps, and set the default web browser to Chrome?
If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you.. -
Inappropriate?I'm also having this problem but I'm on Ubuntu 9.04 with Swiftfox (Firefox) as my default browser.
None of the methods of resetting the default browser work. I've reinstalled Tweetdeck, Air and Swiftfox but to no avail.
I’m frustrated
-
Solved my problem. It seems that Tweetdeck won't open links with Swiftfox unless Firefox is also installed. -
Inappropriate?I'm using Mac 10.6.1 and have Safari as my default browser. Dreamweaver opens first, than Safari. Annoying to say the least.
-
Inappropriate?Go to control panel -> Search for 'default -> Choose "change default programs that Windows uses -> Choose custom -> From there choose your default programs.
I’m confident this works

My default browser is set to Chrome, but TweetDeck opens links in Firefox anyway (in case there is an Firefox running). If no Firefox is opened, Chrome is used but Chrome should be used no matter whether FF is opened or not!
-
Inappropriate? That's what I did and it changed for me; in Tweetdeck's case. Instead of IE, now it opens in Chrome.
-
Inappropriate?Does not work for me.. in Windows XP thogh
-
Inappropriate?Matt, use more exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Inappropriate?I just set Google Chrome to be my default browser. Now all my tweetdeck links open in Chrome. No problem.
-
Inappropriate?Apparently this is fixed in Adobe Air 2.0, but if your using Ubuntu and Adobe Air 1.5, this is what I did...
I created a shell script called tweetdeck.sh in my home directory the contents of the file are:
“export GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID=Default && /opt/TweetDeck/bin/TweetDeck”
i then made it executable:
chmod a+x tweetdeck.sh
finally i changed the launcher command to /home/username/tweetdeck.sh and re-added the nifty icon under the launcher properties
