Inappropriate? In a complex Dial, can some of the nested Number elements have a sendDigits property?
For example:
http://pastie.org/376381
Since you guys are using Asterisk behind the scenes, you're probably combining your numbers with the "&" character before you pass it to the (Asterisk) Dial application, though sendDigits (the Asterisk D() flag) is a Dial-wide parameter....
Is this correct?
I’m curious
-
Inappropriate?Hi D. Brown,
You are allowed to provide different sendDigits attributes with each Number element. Your example is a valid case. -
Inappropriate?Here's another minutiae question:
Can "null" (verbatim) be passed in for timeLimit to make it unlimited? If not, does 0 mean unlimited?
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate? The documentation is confusing there. "null" is not actually a valid input, and would cause a warning to be thrown and would be ignored. 0 would be interpreted literally and would cause the call to hangup the instant it was answered. The default timeLimit was originally unlimited, but was recently changed to default to four hours, as a protection against runaway calls (situations where two automated systems connected and looped forever, never hanging up and burning minutes).
I will correct the documentation to reflect the change from unlimited to four hours, as well as make the allowed values for the attribute clearer.
Thanks for pointing these things out!

Inappropriate?I am simultaneously dialing X numbers, everything works perfectly except that I can't tell which of the X numbers was the one that answered the call. The Twilio response reports the Called Number as the Twilio Number, I need to be able to see past that...
Any ideas?
Thanks,
BRAD -
Hi Bradino,
Twilio should report the Called number as the phone number that was ultimately connected to. If this is not what you are seeing, can you email the callSid of the call to help@twilio.com and we will look into it. -
Inappropriate? When using Twilio to create a conference call, are minutes spent at double the rate as a regular call (as long as the two calls are active)?
Thank you,
Michael -
Inappropriate?Hi Michael,
You are not charged for the second half (or "leg") of the call when you use the Dial verb to connect two parties.

Inappropriate? We are charged for the whole duration of the call before and after the dial happens, correct?
For example, if we call out to a person, they select an option that dials a second party, until they hang up the minutes keep accruing. Right? -
Inappropriate?Hi Ray,
That is correct. You are charged for the time the first person called is on the phone. We do not charge you extra for dialing out to another person, but we do not stop charging at that point either.

Inappropriate? The Dial Verb documentation page mentions that you must verify your phone number, but doesn't provide any context on how you do that. It would be nice if it mentioned you can do this at https://www.twilio.com/user/account/p...
-
Inappropriate? Are there any wordarounds to be able to do a <record> inside a <dial>? I really want to be able to record the call segment, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do this.</dial></record>
-
Nevermind, I found the post describing the undocumented/unsupported record attribute on the dial verb. Sorry for the noise. -
Inappropriate?Hi Kevin,
It is possible. See this thread:
http://getsatisfaction.com/twilio/top...
Keep in mind that its still beta feature and we may change its behavior as well as the pricing around its use.
