Followers and Following are all gone - when will this be fixed?
My profile says I am following 0 people and have 0 followers, but I didn't change anything... everything seems to be deleted? I have over 1240 followers --- and am following over 4000 - why is it not showing???Never had this happen before!

We are still working on this problem. We restored a lot of the data last night but have more work to do. Some users are missing follower or people they follow. Others are missing all of their followers/followings. Either case is very frustrating.
There's more that we can do and we are doing it. In some cases we may not be able to completely restore everything. We are doing the best we can and fixing this is our highest priority.
As we have more information, I will post it here.

Thank you to all the folks who provided additional information. We went into maintenance mode to recover from the missing user problem which was caused by a data inconsistency problem.
We were able to restore to an earlier version of the relationship data. You may still see out of date information for one of the following reasons:
1) The changes are still propagating out to all parts of the site. It will take several hours for the data to be correctly reflected everywhere.
2) There may be some missing data as a result of this restore. In particular, changes you made to your social relationships in the past 12 hours may not be reflected.
3) Notwithstanding the first two points, the counts that appear in your profile for followers or followings may be slightly different than they were before. Those counts are generated from a cache that was not always a perfect reflection of the true data. Therefore, the counts may slightly change.
I completely understand how frustrated everyone is by this outage. Thanks for your patience as we recover and work to make sure it won't happen again.

We're actively looking into this - can you please do two things when reporting this problem:
1) include your username
2) indicate whether you verified a device (a phone) in the past 24 hours.

Inappropriate?I had over 300 followers and I was following about 150. I went down to 7 followers and following 0! I can't add anyone back. When I click 'follow', it appears to do so, but then I'm still following no one and I get only my own tweets in my timeline.
It happened this morning and so far nothing's changed.

Inappropriate?I had about 206 followers and was following about 208 then at around 11pm GMT on 28th July I refreshed and my twitter page kept turning into a google page. I went to bed and my twitter page was back but all my followers gone (I've got about six now - some are spam, some I've added and some I've added don't show up at all).
I have visited the bugs page and it tells me to comment, but it asks me to log in (I am) but there is no comment box for me to use. Very frustrating as not only is my account not working there is no way for me to contact twitter to alert them to it and add my information to the mix. I just keep getting back to the 'how to use twitter page' - I know how to use it!

Inappropriate?Hi, I'm maskedfinancier on Twitter, and although I didn't have a massive follower/ing count (about 90 each) they've just recently been wiped to zero.
And more extraordinarily, I keep getting emails telling me that more people are following me, but my follower count is stuck at 0.
Also, maskedfinancier is my "anonymous" account, and so I decided to follow it from my personal account (shall remain nameless), and sure enough I can follow it from my personal account, but my maskedfinancier number of "followers" also hasn't changed.
I've also tried to follow some new twitterrers e.g. zerohedge, and after one day they disappear.
This is disgraceful.
And more to the point, there is no way (as far as I can see) of directly complaining to Twitter, so I've no idea if they are working on my problem.
If I could find an alternative service I'd switch in a heartbeat. -
Inappropriate?username=tdubtx, i have not verified a mobile device in the last 24 hours (or ever). I lost all my followers and followings--EVERYTHING except my tweets and direct messages.
ALSO, people are trying to add me back and they keep getting wiped out...
what the heck?!!!

Inappropriate?My account is TeamPotvin. Suddenly, we lost all of our followers earlier today. We had around 800 and were followed around 150. Now it says 0 for both. Please help, this is so sad for us. We're a twitter to support a dying little girl.

Yes, this problem sucks, but I fixed was able to fix it!
I read a fix posted by a user...and was able to restore my account. Find my post...by aphrodite44 from around October 8-9th.
It explains how/what to do ...where to look.
Basically, you will need to delete your account (I know...very, very scary), then "restore" it. By doing so, it "resets" everything back to normal.
When you attempt to delete your account, it says "This cannot be undone!". But do it anyway. Then after a few minutes go and log back into the same account. It will ask you if you want to "restore" it. Say yes...and you'll be instructed on what to do. Give it some time for the server to catch up and know that you restored your account. You will get email a temp password....but it takes about 10 minutes for it to become active.

Your Following / Followers haven't actually disappeared, although they're not showing up on http://twitter.com (which is a rather poor user interface for using Twitter, even at the best of times).
Your Following / Followers counts are shown as zero http://dabr.co.uk too - but you can still view your full lists at

http://dabr.co.uk/followers/TeamPotvin .
I've scoured around http://help.twitter.com - but the best link I've found so far is
Follow Counts Are Zero [please click].
Perhaps you could contact http://twitter.com/Lukester on Twitter and ask him to clear your Twitter cache (less scary than deleting & restoring your account)...

The "Follow Counts Are Zero" link which I mentioned doesn't really fit your problem.
Instead, you can currently submit a Support Request (a.k.a. Support Ticket) to Twitter via http://help.twitter.com/requests/new . -
