Inappropriate?Hi, we are having this problem... can someone please respond. This should be a clear violation of the TOS of any web service. Can we have some direction on how to handle this, please?
Thanks,
John

Inappropriate?Submit an official support ticket at http://twitter.com/help, or by emailing support AT twitter DOT com directly. Impersonators are against the Twitter ToS.
I’m sad for you.
-
Inappropriate?Chris is right - the best thing to do is to submit a request to Support.
-
Jason what am I supposed to do if I've send the request and still waiting for an answer after 2 months? -since twitter ticket system threatening me for not send another ticket for the same issue (it says it'll be ignored or will send to back of the queue ) - I've no clue what to do now. -
Inappropriate?Twitter, can you tell me who set up the impersonator account?
-
Hello. If you've found someone impersonating you, please contact support by logging a ticket at http://twitter.com/help or by sending an email to support AT twitter DOT com.
In that support ticket, kindly include the username of the account that is impersonating you, as well as any information that will help prove the other account is not legitimate. -
Inappropriate? What's twitter's usual response time to these types of matter? I submitted an official report ticket last week and still no word.
-
Inappropriate?I'd be curious to see the same. I'm on about three weeks since my first request and it's been a week since my followup, including much additional information.
-
It's now been 5 weeks since my first request and still no response whatsoever from Twitter... -
Inappropriate?I submitted a ticket 12 days ago about blatant impersonation, and checked on the ticket's status today only to find that it had been deleted without a response. =/
-
Inappropriate?Hi Chris. Is it possible that your requests were closed rather than deleted?
You can see the requests you've created that have been closed at this link: http://twitter.zendesk.com/requests?f... (login required)

Inappropriate?I've got the very same problem. Send a ticket as suggested in their help. It's been *2 months* and no answer! Still waiting.

Inappropriate?Hello,
I have also submitted two requests, one seven days ago, and still no answer :
http://help.twitter.com/requests/242593
I am still waiting for an answer. How long can it take to answer a request ?

Inappropriate? It's been 6 months after I issued my ticket for this and still no response from twitter. Looks like the only way Twitter cares about you and resolves these issues is if you're a celebrity: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.u....

joshuajcohen, that seems to be correct. If I hadn't known someone who was, at the time, in the top 100 most popular twitter users, I don't think I would have been able to get this resolved. Fortunately, however, he was able to put me in touch with someone who personally took care of my issue.
Now, if I could just figure out how to stop receiving emails when this thread is updated, I would be all set. -
Chris - there's a link in the red section of the page (above) that allows you to stop following this thread. :) -
Thanks, Chris. -
Inappropriate? As this post is almost a year old and someone today opened an account impersonating me I assume that this issue isn't important to Twitter. Someone used my e-mail address to open up an account. Most websites send out a confirmation e-mail to verify the e-mail address before activating the account. This shows a lack of security on Twitter's part and makes Twitter a breeding ground for criminal activity.

Inappropriate?Twitter is way out of their league with what is happening. People get impersonated, there are exceedingly offensive nicknames and pages... If you submit a ticket to Twitter, they just send you back an automated email of answers based on keywords in your question. I asked a question once and got three different replies that had absolutely nothing to do with the question, but since the word "password" was in there I got all the known issues with twitter passwords. If this message board is filled with unanswered Twitter questions, don't you wonder what their Ticket backlog is like? Good luck!
I’m giving up

Inappropriate?Actually I fixed my problem. Since the person who created the fake account used my e-mail address, I just told Twitter that I forgot my password and they e-mailed me how to reset my password. I went in reset my password logged in and then deleted the account. Problem fixed. I believe the person that created this fake account was looking to pad his follower count by creating fake accounts by using e-mail addresses he had and sign them up to follow him.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Twitter's process for filing impersonation tickets has changed a lot since this thread was first created.
There's now a page in Twitter's help portal that lists the various Terms of Service violations (including impersonation). That help page describes what you can do to file a TOS ticket.
For more info, see http://help.twitter.com/forums/26257/... and click on the link for the correct type of TOS violation.
(Glad your problem's fixed, Bill.) -
Inappropriate?mdy - been there, done that. Apparently they changed the process for customers but not for response. Opened ticket re: impersonation 6 days ago, still awaiting assignment to help desk operator. This impersonator (disgruntled ex-employee) is harming my not-for-profit business. Checked out Twitter on BBB website they are not a member and have an 'F' rating. Not surprising based on above. Tried calling Twitter but no surprise I only get routed to voicemail. I guess you get what you pay for.

Inappropriate?I have been trying to contact Twitter Support for over a month in regards to another company (a competitor) that is blatantly impersonating my company on Twitter. I have followed all of their "steps" as outlined in the above link and all I receive is automated responses directing me to the "steps to take" page and then my ticket is closed. I'm beyond frustrated and in the meantime, this company continues to impersonate us, directing followers to their site.
I realize there is a difference between personal impersonation and competitive practices, but the end result is no different and it saddens me that Twitter puts users into an auto-response cycle from which there never seems to be a resolution. I have resubmitted my issue several times now, each time after the ticket is closed without a proper response or resolution to our problem.
I’m very very frustrated

Inappropriate?I've had the same exact problem with twitter. How many times do I have to complain about this. I may have to pay them a visit.
