I wish the friends list (esp. when it's a long lists) had an alphabetical pagination system!
Especially the ridiculously long lists of friends (when someone has thousands there is no way I'm just going to keep clicking next!).
If it could break the friends up into pages, and then do encyclopedia style labeling ex. a-ch, co-f, g-mc, and so forth...

The best point from the company

We removed alphabetizing to make the site faster. And it worked! Now that the site is up to speed, we're finding the best way to reimpose alphabetical order, and keep things snappy. Sorry for the inconvenience; engineering gives a rough estimate of a month or so to restore things to better-than-former glory.

Inappropriate? The inverse is also true - in Friend Requests, the list is alphabetical, but the information that matters is chronological. Twitter needs to put some organization and filtering around these long lists.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I don't know the official word on this, but my guess is that alphabetical sorting won't be restored until Twitter completes its migration to new servers.
They tried to perform a migration last December, but didn't push through due to hardware problems (with a switch).
I console myself with the thought that Twitter is probably even more eager than I am to get everything migrated. :-) -
Inappropriate? With the api a third party tool would take minutes to code. Would this be helpful?

Inappropriate?Any status update on this?
I know Twitter has been "increasing capacity" lately, so is there any chance to go back to alphabetical order soon?
It would be easier to go through a-z lists as opposed to the current l33t status ordering ;) -
Inappropriate?Databases are usually pretty fast at doing alphabetizating. The real time is spent in sucking the data out of the database. I have difficulty believing that alphabetizing my following page is this performance intensive. And more difficulty believing that no solution has been foound in 6 months.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I'm guessing it's not that a solution can't be found, but that this particular issue is probably just of low priority. It's easy to forget how complicated Twitter really is, after all they have a very simple intuitive interface, but so many ways to send and receive tweets!
I’m guessing, but thankful for how well the rest of the service works

Inappropriate?I would also add to this request some sort of easy AJAX search like Facebook. It would be great to type either a friend's name or their handle into a search box and get a quick dropdown list of results.
As with many other Twitter topics on here that are 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 months old... Just wondering (along with everyone else) if there's any status update. Thx.

Inappropriate?i like this idea too, i hope that there is an option if we want to have it in alphabetical order or not or if we can put followers in categories
I’m thankful
