No one is receiving any of my invites or "add" messages.
I have tried sending "add +number" to 40404. I also tried posting on the web. All of the messages appear on my account, but no one ever receives any notifications on their cell phone.

Hi Guys,
This is a bug. Normally invite+phone number works like a charm. As a workaround while we fix it, you can tell your friends to send follow+user name from their mobile to start getting your Twitter updates. For example:
follow crystal
Twitter will walk them through the same process as invite+phone number once we receive the message. I'll post an update when the bug is fixed, sorry about that!

Inappropriate?I believe the Twitter keyword for adding a phone number is "invite"
From the Twitter FAQ:
How do I invite people?
To invite people by phone number, send the word invite + the phone number of the person you want to add from your phone or from the Twitter site. Your message should look like this: invite 4153172323

If they're already a Twitter user, use the keyword is "follow" with the person's user name.
For example, your friends can send: "follow miketextbook" to start following you.

My suggested workaround, for what it's worth, is to sms your friends, and ask them to follow you by sending 'follow miketextbook' to 40404 (assuming they're in the US).
Twitter will reply to your friend to ask for a user name, and will automatically create an account for your friend once s/he replies. When their account is created, they'll already be following you.
It's a roundabout way of achieving the same thing. This approach worked for me last week when I asked a friend to follow me (we used the UK sms number, though, since we're both outside the US).
