Slews of updates on my phone, even though I turned off device updates
I'm a US resident out of the country for a few days. On Twitter, I turned off device updates using the web interface, knowing that at some point I would turn on my phone to briefly check a message.
When I did, I got a huge backlog of text messages -- 30 or 40 all at once. This will be greatly expensive for me since I'm roaming. I'm furious because I had turned it off in my settings before turning on the phone.
Why the delay? I also sent an "Off" message via text. Still, no luck.

Inappropriate?I tried turning it off online too, even deleting the device altogether -- doesn't work though :( Gotta get it to stop!

(Hope you don't mind... I'm asking more out of curiosity than anything else) -
Inappropriate?I also recently added my phone as a device, and after sending the "OFF" command continued to receive updates. I also attempted to turn the updates off from the Device Settings portion of the dashboard to no avail. When finally attempting to just delete the device a notification popped up saying there is no device to delete. Please help! -

Without your user names or phone numbers, I can't research your accounts, however, I've done some tests to see if updates continue to come to phones after OFF is sent, and I can't seem to reproduce this.
If you are still having problems with turning device notifications off, after sending any of these words:
OFF, STOP, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE
please file a ticket with Support and we'll research it for you.
