Inappropriate? That's not supposed to happen :-)
Can you start the tracker from a terminal (by typing 'wakoopa'), perform the actions leading to the crash and post the output here? That may aid us in finding the problem.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Thanx for the superfast reply :)
Just tried from command line, and it actual worked. After this I killed the process then reloaded from the GNOME menu and it worked again.
I'll try again later from a reboot & login as that is when it occurred yesterday & earlier today.
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?OK, cool, I'm glad :)
Something did go wrong though, so we'll try to find the cause. Do you remember if you had a working Internet connection at the time you clicked on "send usage now"? -
Inappropriate? On both occasions I did indeed have a working net connection.
The tracker is still working fine :) so I haven't been able to replicate the crash, must have been temporary.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?OK, thanks! Let us know if somehow you run into trouble again.

Inappropriate?I have the same problem, also on Karmic. If I want the tracker to work again, I need to restart or log out. It works, but after a few hours, it will crash again, causing me to lose most of my submissions :-(
I posted the console output here: http://pastebin.com/f784fd94d
BTW, I noticed the wakoopa password is transmitted in cleartext. It should be encrypted, especially if they are sent multiple times.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Okay, I noticed the password isn't being submitted in cleartext at all... My mistake.
But the Tracker does now crash even on a fresh restart. I moved the ~/.wakoopa folder, still the same result. I also noticed there are 2 'wakoopa' processes showing up in gnome-system-monitor. Is this normal?
Another thing that *might* have a relevance is that I have the tracker running on 2 machines simultaneously, on Ubuntu and on a Mac. However, I didn't experience any problems with this setup previously. -
Inappropriate?grumpus42,
The 2 pocesses are normal. One is for the graphical user interface and the other continuously monitors your X11 session.
Running the tracker on 2 machines should not be a problem.
Can you try and start the tracker from a terminal window and send us the output? Also, if you have gdb, you can run it like this:
# gdb wakoopa
(gdb) run
Then, when it crashes, type:
(gdb) bt
Both outputs may help us to determine the cause of the crash.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Thanks for your response!
I posted the terminal output above ( http://pastebin.com/f784fd94d ). It's crashing with an EOF in DesktopInfo subprocess.
The gdb session gave me this: http://pastebin.com/f4a214887
Don't mind the "Clearlooks-gperfection2' warnings, they happen in all applications. Also, after I typed quit in the gdb session, it reported another 'EOF in DesktopInfo' message. That's it.
This time, I had to keep submitting a few times until it 'finally' crashed.
